How to Send a Homeowner Their Login Credentials
Invite a homeowner to create their own account so they can access and store the documents and reports tied to their home.
Before you start
The home's customer must have an email address on file. You will see it on the home record under Client Information. If it is missing or wrong, fix it before you send the invite.
Steps
- Open the home. From the sidebar, go to Homes and click the customer's address to open the home record.
- Go to the Overview tab. At the top of the page, select Overview. You will see the Client Information box (see screenshot).
- Confirm the email and phone number are correct. Read the Client Information box and check the email and phone number. If anything needs to change, click the edit (pencil) icon next to Send Invite in that box to update the details, then save.
- Send the invite. Click Send Invite. A modal titled "Send Login Credentials" opens.
- Confirm. Click "Yes, Send Credentials". You will see the toast "Credentials Sent / Login credentials have been sent to the customer successfully."
Note: there is a Send Invite button in the home header and one inside the Client Information box on the Overview tab. Either one starts the same flow.
Tip: Sprk Home is free for homeowners. It keeps all reports and uploaded solar and energy documentation in one secure record tied to the property, which carries from seller to buyer.
Common mistakes
- Sending the invite before confirming the email. The credentials go to whatever email is on file, so verify it first.
- Looking for this on the wrong tab. The invite lives on the home header and the Overview tab, not on Connections.
What happens next
The homeowner receives an email inviting them to create a profile. Once they accept, they can log in to view the home's reports and stored documents.
